When I first picked up a camera, I never imagined I’d be where I am today—traveling across breathtaking landscapes, capturing heartfelt moments, and working with couples who trust me with their most cherished memories. Photography started as a passion, a creative outlet, but it has grown into something much more: a business I love, a career that allows me to connect with people, and an art form that continuously pushes me to show up as my best self.

You might wonder, What does ‘showing up’ mean? Well, for me, it’s about embodying the photographer I wanted to become—long before anyone even knew my name. It’s about being intentional, present, and offering a level of care that goes far beyond pressing a shutter. It’s about showing up like the photographer I dreamed of being, until my actions aligned with that vision, and I became exactly that.

1. Showing Up Starts with Mindset

In the early days, I worked on everything: portraits, couples, editorial, weddings—you name it. I experimented, I stumbled, I doubted myself. But through it all, I realised that I had to start seeing myself as a professional if I wanted others to see me that way. That shift in mindset was everything.

I stopped approaching my work as just “taking photos” and started crafting experiences that reflected the value I wanted to offer. I learned to trust myself, to own my style, and to present myself with intention. I treated every client—no matter how big or small the session—as if they were my most important one.

Showing up like a sought-after photographer meant being organized, prepared, and confident—because when you show clients that you’ve got this, they trust you completely.

2. Providing a Client Experience That Stands Out

To me, photography isn’t just about delivering pretty photos—it’s about making people feel seen, heard, and cared for. From the first inquiry to the final delivery, I pour my heart into creating an experience that’s seamless, thoughtful, and deeply personal.

When I work with couples, I don’t just capture their love—I invest in it. I get to know their story, what makes their connection special, and what matters most to them. I share insights, location ideas, tips for making the shoot stress-free, and even the smallest details like where the light hits best at their chosen time.

I show up early. I stay late. I think of the things they don’t. Because when clients feel they’re in caring, capable hands, they relax, they open up, and that’s when the magic happens.

3. Crafting the Photos I Wanted to Be Known For

At first, it’s tempting to deliver what you think people want. But over time, I realised that the best work happens when you create what truly speaks to your heart. I stopped trying to match trends or styles that didn’t feel like me, and instead, I leaned into what felt authentic: natural emotions, candid moments, and timeless beauty.

I didn’t force poses or fabricate scenes. I allowed my couples to be themselves—and captured that. I let the backdrop enhance their story, not overpower it. I wanted every photo I delivered to feel like a memory, not just a picture. That’s what my clients came to love, and that’s what drew the right people to me.

4. Showing Up Even When It’s Hard

The truth is, this journey hasn’t always been easy. Some days are foggy (literally and metaphorically, especially in Switzerland), some shoots don’t go perfectly, and some moments are filled with doubts. But I’ve learned that showing up—consistently, thoughtfully, and wholeheartedly—is what sets you apart.

On cloudy days, I find the light.

In challenging conditions, I get creative.

When something unexpected happens, I remain calm and adaptable.

Clients don’t just hire me for my camera skills—they hire me for how I show up in those moments: calm, prepared, and ready to make magic happen no matter what.

5. Treating Every Opportunity Like It Matters (Because It Does)

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is this: “Act like the photographer you want to be, and the opportunities will follow.”

I treated my first bookings like they were the most important shoots of my career (I still do). I poured my energy into building trust, providing value, and delivering photos that exceeded expectations. And word spread—because people don’t just remember the photos, they remember how you made them feel.

The Photographer You Choose to Be Is the Photographer You Become

Today, when clients book me, they don’t just book a photographer—they book an experience. They book someone who cares about their story, who will guide them with confidence, and who will deliver images that feel like timeless keepsakes. I didn’t wait until I “made it” to start showing up like this—I showed up like this until I did.

So, if you’re just starting out, or even if you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself: How would I show up if I were already the photographer I dream of being? Start there. Be intentional, be authentic, and give your clients a reason to choose you, not just for your photos but for the way you make them feel.

I’m still learning, still growing, but I’ve come to believe this: when you show up fully, when you care deeply, and when you lead with passion and purpose, your work will speak for itself—and the clients who resonate with you will come.
